Digital inputs

Two digital inputs can be attached to the Smart Gateway to give alarms triggered by a change in the circuit status.

The Smart Gateway configuration in FieldLogic Hub determines whether the digital input alarm is triggered by the closing or opening of a circuit. The configuration also sets the label for the digital input alarm, how long the trigger condition must be present before the alarm turns on, and how long the alarm is on after the stop condition is reached.

Use case: Water tower security

For example, say that your utility has had problems at a remote water tower. The access gate to the water tower is being tampered with, and you have been unable to determine exactly when the tampering is occurring. While the water tower does not have any monitoring or power in place, it is covered by your FlexNet network. You install a Smart Gateway with a gate monitoring switch. You set the FieldLogic Hub configuration such that when the parts of the switch are separated and the circuit is closed, an alarm is immediately triggered to let you know that the gates have been opened. This setup provides real-time notifications of unexpected access to the water tower.
