Smart Gateway alerts
The Sensus Smart Gateway Sensor Interface reports alerts that can originate from the Smart Gateway, and its attached digital inputs and sensors.
These four alerts are the base alerts that your Smart Gateway reports. How these alerts display is highly dependent on how you have configured your Smart Gateway. You can configure your Smart Gateway in FieldLogic Hub.

Low SmartPoint Battery | Indicates that the Smart Gateway battery voltage is low. | The battery voltage is sampled immediately before every transmission. If the voltage is less than the threshold, the low battery alarm flag sets. If the battery voltage goes above the threshold the flag clears. The low battery alarm is reported as a flag in the header of every message rather than an alarm message. | Monitor the condition for a couple of days. The alarm will stop reporting on its own when the battery voltage returns to a value over the threshold. If the condition persists replace the Smart Gateway. |
Battery Consumption | The Smart Gateway estimates battery consumption and remaining capacity based on the usage profile, including user-defined sample and transmit rates. | Users receive an alarm when battery life reaches certain thresholds. | |
Digital Input Notification | The Smart Gateway can detect a digital input state change and send a notification. A digital input must be attached and the alarm enabled. Once enabled, the user can define the alarm trigger, the alarm label, when the alarm starts, and when the alarm stops. | Based on customizable settings. | Based on customizable settings. |
Sensor Alarms | The Smart Gateway samples the sensor for data and identifies if the sensor’s values are outside of the designated ranges. | The alarm detection is determined by what the sensor is measuring and the user-defined selections. If the sampled value drops below the value as defined, an alarm triggers indicating this. | Based on customizable settings. |
